Fleetrez is a rental car platform that was developed by individuals/specialists with over 70yrs experience in car rental (aka us) and of course AI features throughout our platform. So always ready to embrace new tech and innovations we decided to give ChatGPT a go, after all it’s all we’ve hearing about recently so only fair to see what all the hype is about – and as we are not about to sit any exams 😉 we decided to use it to create a blog. Below is courtesy of ChatGPT, tell us what you think….
Santorini is a picturesque Greek island located in the Aegean Sea, known for its stunning caldera views, white-washed buildings, and crystal clear waters.
To get to Santorini, you can fly, the airport is located in the capital city of Fira. There are also ferries that run to the island from other parts of Greece, such as Athens and Crete. Once you arrive you can pick up your rental car and have relaxing days exploring the island at your own pace. Fira is easily accessible and is also connected to the nearby island of Thirassia by a cable car. Fira is of easy reach of the towns of Oia, Firostefani, Imerovigli, and Kamari which are also great places to visit and stay.
Santorini has a rich history, with the earliest known human settlements dating back to the Neolithic period. The island was later inhabited by the Minoans, an ancient civilization that flourished on the island from around 2000 to 1400 BCE. It was also a major center of the ancient world, playing a significant role in the development of the Cycladic culture. Santorini suffered one of the largest volcanic eruptions in history around 1600 BCE which caused the island’s shape as we know it today and accounts for all the volcanic rock and black sand beaches.
The coastline of Santorini is approximately 73km (45 miles) long. This includes the main island as well as the smaller islands that make up the Santorini archipelago, such as Thirassia, Nea Kameni, and Palea Kameni. Other neighbouring islands include; Ios, Naxos, Paros, Mykonos and Folegandros. Santorini is known for its rugged cliffs, black sand beaches, and stunning views of the Aegean Sea.

This site: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0377027319306316 is really interesting if you are keen to learn more about the volcano that essentially created Santorini as we know it
Note: Difficult to get photos of Santorini that really do it justice because so much of it is white-washed and very pretty, and although this is quintessential Santorini, it does not translate well into photos without them looking the same!
